What does a Savannah cat eat?
Cats are obligate carnivores as a result of their ancestral diets., eating a meat-only diet provides some vitamins and fatty acids in their pre-formed state, for cats and many other obligate carnivores . Only a meat diet can provide the correct balance of vitamins & minerals needed to promote healthy growth. Generally Savannah's require a balanced, healthy, quality diet containing a high level of taurine found in raw meat, many breeders suggest a completely raw diet with added prey or a high-quality kibble for grazing. It has been observed that Savannah's require a higher level of taurine in their diets to thrive.
All my kittens and cats are fed a quality raw diet , but I have to recognise not all owners will follow this, so I introduce some quality commercial foods before they are ready for homing . A care sheet is provided with links to companies I use .
Do not feed any cat on a purely dry diet. This can lead to problems later in life.
